Immigrant Welcome Center receives $75K to provide services to new Afghan neighbors

Immigrant Welcome Center (IWC) has received a grant award in the amount of $75K to facilitate the integration of our newly arrived Afghan neighbors.

The grant was made possible by the Welcome Fund to provide training and education to Afghan neighbors in the state of Indiana.

“Immigrant Welcome Center is grateful for this generous grant from Welcome.US. This grant will enhance our capacity to provide wraparound services and integrate our new Afghan neighbors in Central Indiana,” said Gurinder Kaur, CEO of IWC. “We will be able to help them by providing appropriate literacy-level English classes, connecting with resources for employment, and accessing other essential services.”

IWC, an immigrant-focused organization in Central Indiana, is one of the three recipients of grants in Indiana.

IWC will use the funds to hire a full-time program coordinator to ensure clients receive tailored support and referrals to English language literacy and training programs. They will also ensure that the clients’ needs in housing, health, employment, and other areas are met through available community support.
